Corporate Paralegal - Job Description



·         Prepares legal documents, such as: subpoena responses, legal holds, position statements to state and federal agencies, responses to union requests for information, arbitration briefs, and other litigation related documents, in an accurate, complete and timely manner

·         Conducts legal research, reviews applicable legal principles and precedents and drafts memoranda, charts, or other documents with attention to detail.

·         Investigates facts and gathers documents from existing files, electronic media, and through inquires of various departments throughout the company; organizes and coordinates information that has been gathered, drafts summaries

·         Assists with preparing witnesses for arbitration and hearings, and interviews witnesses to gather information; prepares exhibits and witnesses preparation of materials
·         Assists outside counsel as needed

·         Develops and maintains all Share Point sites as needed

·         Interacts with external attorneys, administrative agencies, arbitrators, as well as internal human resource professionals, members of management, and other in-house attorneys in a respectful and professional manner

·         Assists attorneys with other related assignments

·         Constantly working with various software, such as: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point

·         Conducts research in the law library and will use internet law research tools.

·         Must have effective written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to appropriately handle highly confidential and proprietary information

·         Must be able to prioritize, organize and coordinate work while showing initiate and sound judgment

·         Must have attention to detail, accuracy and flexibility in handling multiple tasks, often under time constraints.

·         Must be familiar with applicable state and federal rules, particularly relating to labor and employment law

·         Must be proficient with Lexis Nexis legal research tools

·         Must be able to perform well in a Corporate Legal Environment

·         Must be able to stay focused, engaged, and follow through on all assignments on all directives in a timely and professional manner

·         Holds self-accountable for complete, accurate and timely work results

·         Exhibits thorough research skills

·         Exercises professional judgment, integrity, respect and professionalism

·         Appreciation for the importance of diversity and inclusion

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Excellent judgment, experience with high levels of responsibility, be highly organized and the ability to multi-task in a fast pace environment.

·         Ability to take direction and assignments from the labor and employment and employee benefits attorneys and collaborate effectively with other team members.

·         Must know how to navigate the Share Point Application

·         Experience with managing e-discovery, including initiating and administrating confidential legal holds

·         Experience in receiving service of process from a registered agent, investigating and responding to employment related subpoenas.


·         Experience with document management and matter management systems.
